Basel G. Yandem
My journey in leadership and service started when I joined the Boy Scouts at age six, spending 13 formative years gaining leadership skills and the mentality to bring out the best out of others. After high school, I moved to the United States to pursue my college education. An emotionally difficult step, but one filled with purpose. As an immigrant, I faced the challenges of being away from home, and with the support of my aunt, parents, and especially my grandmother Leila, who taught me the importance of purpose and perseverance. Her legacy inspired me to help others see the beauty in life, no matter the challenges, and to embrace goal and success accomplishment as a path to fulfillment. I developed an optimistic mindset rooted in hope and goal setting, learning to find joy in every step forward. Over time, I realized I had a natural ability to inspire and guide others through meaningful conversations, and I became passionate about helping people see life’s beauty and possibility, just as I had learned to.
After earning a master’s in engineering, my journey took me back to Lebanon, where I applied my skills in the humanitarian sector, working for Save the Children International, Leading and managing large-scale projects focused on delivering adequate housing in conflict-affected areas to improve the lives of refugees, merging engineering solutions with human-centered impact. In 2019, after returning to the U.S., I took the role of Deputy Director of Public Works and Chief of Engineering at the City of Bethlehem, overseeing nine bureaus. The work is demanding yet highly fulfilling through building systems that serve communities and uplift lives.
Two years ago, my world was turned upside down when I lost my cousin, someone who felt more like a brother to me. His tragic decision to take his own life served as a heartbreaking reminder that even those who seem the strongest can be fighting their own silent battles. This profound loss shifted my focus, igniting a mission to raise mental health awareness and empower others through mindset and purpose. In 2025, I knew it was time to step fully into this calling. I committed to personal development and helping other individuals find happiness, unlock their potential, and achieve meaningful success. Therefore, I obtained my Life and Leadership coaching certifications and launched L.E.I.L.A. Life and Leadership Coaching.
My mission is clear: to help you LEAD with clarity, ELEVATE your mindset, INSPIRE action, LAUNCH a fulfilling life, and ACCOMPLISH what truly matters beginning from within. Together, we can navigate this transformative journey toward meaningful change.
